Judge Rosemary Barkett Litigation Fund

“As I grow more concerned about the abuses immigrants are facing, it is more important than ever to make sure that AI Justice has the resources necessary to ensure their just and fair treatment.”  - Judge Barkett

Judge Rosemary Barkett has spent much of her life working to ensure justice for others.  As an immigrant herself, Judge Barkett speaks powerfully and passionately about the immigrant experience and the growing need to protect immigrants’ basic rights.  Throughout her career, Judge Barkett has been a champion for civil rights and a fearless defender of justice.  Prior to joining The Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague, she served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  Judge Barkett has also served in numerous capacities on Florida State Courts, including as the Florida Supreme Court’s first female Chief Justice.  The recipient of seven honorary degrees, Judge Barkett has earned dozens of prestigious honors including the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award, the Latin Business and Professional Women Lifetime Achievement Award and the Legal Legend Award.  Judge Barkett was named one of the 2014 “Great Immigrants (The Pride of America)” by the Carnegie Corporation for her contributions in advancing American society.

Judge Barkett’s distinguished career in public service serves as an inspiration to us all and the Judge Rosemary Litigation Fund will help to ensure just and fair treatment for immigrants.

Donations toward the fund may be made not only online, or by check, but also through a gift of securities, which will provide an additional tax benefit for the donor.

About Us:

AI Justice is an award-winning non-profit law and advocacy firm that protects and promotes the basic human rights of immigrants. In Florida and on a national level, we champion the rights of unaccompanied immigrant children; advocate for survivors of trafficking and domestic violence; serve as a watchdog on immigration detention practices and policies; and speak for immigrant groups who have particular and compelling claims to justice.
